Not every blouse needs embroidery on it, and not everything worth stitching well is a blouse.

What gets stitched here

Churidar and chudidhar sets, kurtis, plain and lined blouses, skirts, palazzo sets, and the school-and-office clothes that get worn twice a week and have to survive it. Saree falls and pico. Alterations, including the ones other people have already attempted.

This is ordinary tailoring done properly, which in practice means three things: the measurements are taken from you rather than guessed, the seams are finished so the inside looks like somebody cared, and the piece comes back when it was promised.

Fit is the whole job

A blouse that is embroidered beautifully and fits badly is a bad blouse. Most of what goes wrong in stitching is decided before any thread is used: the armhole, the shoulder slope, the dart placement and how much ease is left at the waist.

Bring an old garment that fits you well. It beats a tape measure used on yourself, and it beats a dress size by a distance. If you can come and be measured, better again, and for anything fitted it is worth the twenty minutes.

Bring your own material

Most customers do, and it costs less. Cotton, silk, georgette, rayon, linen. If you are not sure how much to buy, message before you go to the shop rather than after: the amount depends on the sleeve length, the neckline and your measurements, and coming back short by a quarter metre is the most avoidable problem in this trade.

What it costs and how long it takes

Plain stitching is quoted per piece and depends on the garment, the lining and the finish. It is not expensive work and it is not quoted vaguely: send what you want made and you will get a number.

Timing is usually a few days for a plain blouse or a churidar set, longer in wedding season when the frame is full. Say your date at the start.

Stitching and embroidery in the same place

This is the reason most customers here end up doing both together. When the same person measures, cuts, stitches and then works the design, the embroidery lands where your neckline actually is rather than where somebody guessed it would be on flat cloth. If you only want the stitching, that is a complete job in itself and nobody will push embroidery at you.
